We are hard at work to move our websites and blogs to our new in-house developed software. The decision to change software was made by the decision to move the network to the Canadian datacenter which will nullify increasing hosting costs by the American provider. Although the datacenter is from the same company, there is no easy way to migrate the network of sites and blogs. We are currently running on WordPress a popular blogging software and content management system. We have found many issues with the software and have decided it would be the best time to make our own. The task is not easy as there are many features to remake in our own way. Early development results have been very impressive, proving that WordPress was not worth the investment to begin with.
Dubbed Skeleton, our software has been a joy to develop websites with. Skeleton not only provides the freedom to create; but has been tested at 57.69 times faster than WordPress with the same blog on the localhost. Moving away from WordPress has not been easy. Each page/post had to be reformatted for our new database which provides Search Engine and Open Graph features, and many memory and performance improvements. Now we are developing the administrative content management system.
Not all blogs on the network will be moved. The Anime blogs will be removed due to time and the fact that they are unmanaged. The computer services website will be removed as we do not provide these services anymore. Other content such as the Rocksmith Songs Search will be added later as time will permit. Our focus is on the core business, and we hope to make a proper business website. Webpage addresses will be given a small change as our new software will provide the option for different languages.
We are exploring the possibility of a Fastpass or Passport feature, providing no advertising and access to members only content. A download and upload login card option for a faster method of sign-in is being considered for limited access. Either way we are lacking manpower to complete core projects at this time, and we hope to just finish something before the May hard deadline.
Thank you for reading,
